Have Your Say at the Spring
2007 Marine Mixers
Parks Canada is hosting
information sessions called ‘marine mixers’
for the southern Strait of Georgia National
Marine Conservation Area (NMCA) Reserve
Feasibility Study. We would like to extend an
invitation for you to attend one of these
sessions to learn about recent project
developments and to provide your input.
BACKGROUND
Parks Canada, in cooperation
with the Province of British Columbia, is
undertaking a study to assess the feasibility
of establishing an NMCA reserve in the
southern Strait of Georgia. The feasibility
study is approximately one year away from
completion.
MIXER FORMAT, SCHEDULE AND
CONTENT
Five marine mixers are being
held on southern Vancouver Island and in
Vancouver. Join us at a mixer to find out
about elements of the draft NMCA concept,
like the draft boundary for the proposed NMCA
reserve and the draft national zoning
framework. Discuss these topics and more with
staff from Parks Canada, Fisheries and Oceans
Canada and the Province of British Columbia,
as well as your fellow stakeholders. Snacks
and refreshments will be provided.
The first
portion of the evening information sessions
is an open house, followed by a presentation
at 6.30pm and discussion. The Sidney Mixer
has extended hours to allow people to attend
from the Gulf Islands, running from 1pm to
8pm, with presentations at 1.30pm and 6.30pm.
